Description
Amarena cherries are the fruit of the Prunus cerasus tree which originated in Asia Minor and were brought to Italy by the Roman General Lucullus. He dined in succulent fashion and had cherry trees brought to him to plant in his garden. The sour cherry is a variety of cherry with a tart, refreshing flavor. A summer fruit which is picked in July, high in vitamins A, B1, and C.
